Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Tuesday, speaking of the 5.5 magnitude quake which struck Zagreb on  March 22, that he was sorry about the public arguments between Mayor Milan Bandic and Construction Minister Predrag Stromar about who would run run the reconstruction of the city.

First we will identity the damage, after which parliament will adopt a law which should include the government, the City of Zagreb and experts, he told the public broadcaster.

There is time to draw up a quality bill and at the same time it is necessary to find financing, he said.

Parliamentary election date not a priority now

Asked to comment on the fact that part of the opposition was mentioning the possibility of delaying this year's parliamentary election due to the coronavirus situation, Plenkovic said no discussion had been held on that and that the government was focused on health safety and economic-social measures.

"Everything that was envisaged regarding the election will occur in the autumn. Until then we have to fight the big fight for Croatian citizens' health," he said, adding that the date of the election "is not a priority at the moment."
