The Grand Chess Tour contributes to the popularity of chess, but also to the promotion of Croatia

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković praised the organization of the Grand Chess Tour SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz Croatia, hosted by Zagreb for the fifth time in a row. "In partnership with Gari Kasparov, we profile Croatia as a destination that brings together the best chess players in the world," he said.

In his speech, the prime minister congratulated grandmaster Fabian Caruana on his fantastic game and wished him success in the rest of the season. He thanked everyone for organizing the Grand Chess Tour, which Zagreb is hosting for the fifth time in a row.
 
"We had the opportunity to enjoy the great performances of the best chess players. The Government of the Republic of Croatia is honored to support the tournament in partnership with our friend and Croatian citizen Gari Kasparov, who has been carrying this whole idea for years," Plenković said.
 
He also said that the Grand Chess Tour contributes to the popularity of chess, especially among young people and women. This tournament, the Prime Minister said, is an excellent tool for promoting everything that playing chess encourages - in terms of developing strategy and making decisions, as well as enjoying this great game.
