Jadranka Kosor, Croatia's minister of family affairs, veterans and inter-generational solidarity, took part in the seventh session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday, the government said in a statement.
Addressing the session, Kosor recalled that 15 years had passed since the World Conference on Human Rights, which adopted the Vienna Declaration, the Programme of Action and the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Kosor said that Croatia would organise a series of events with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of human rights for all.
Human rights protection in Croatia is guaranteed by the country's constitution, international treaties and laws that have been adjusted or are being adjusted to international treaties, Kosor said.
Croatia has ombudspersons in charge of gender equality, children, and disabled persons, she added.
A large number of non-governmental organisations protecting and promoting human rights are actively contributing to the efficient and nondiscriminating protection of human rights in Croatia, Kosor said.
