Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic met in Zagreb on Tuesday with the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Swedish telecommunications corporation Ericsson, Hans Vestberg, and the President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Gordana Kovacevic, for talks on the company's business results and activities in Croatia, the Prime Minister's Office said in a press release.
"Croatia is a very important market to us," Vestberg said. He cited extremely good results of research and development at Ericsson Nikola Tesla, noting that 90 per cent of the company's employees in Croatia were highly educated.
Also discussed was Ericsson's business model, which is based on research, development and innovation, and its e-health project in Croatia was mentioned as an example of successful cooperation between the public and private sectors in the country.
Research and development play an important role in economic development and growth, so Ericsson invests USD 5 billion in those areas annually, according to the press release.
This year the Croatian company Nikola Tesla marks the 60th anniversary of its operation.
