The Croatian government on Thursday proposed to the supervisory board of the Autocesta Rijeka Zagreb (ARZ) motorway operator to dismiss the company's managing board chairman Zeljko Denona and replace him by Josip Sale, and it also proposed to the Croatian Railways Cargo (HZ) general assembly to relieve the board chairman Ivan Leskovic of duty and and another two board members and to replace Leskovic with Danijel Krakic.
These proposals were suggested by the commission for managing strategic public companies.
Also today, the cabinet of Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic gave a negative opinion on the programming and financial report on the performance of the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO) for last year, due to irregularities the government noticed. The government forwarded the report to the prosecutorial authorities due to suspicions of abuse of office and vagueness on the financial performance.
Education and Sport Minister Zeljko Jovanovic said at the government's meeting that the HOO had been given over 130 million kuna from the state budget last year, and that the auditing checks established many irregularities and obscurities in the use of those funds, notably in relation to the funding of the Sport Television.
