Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development and European Funds Minister Branko Grcic and Finance Minister Slavko Linic on Monday held talks with Philip Bennett, First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, about the possibility for the EBRD to finance and assist projects in Croatia.
It was concluded that there is a wide area of interest and possibilities for cooperation both in the public and private sectors, the government's public relations office said in a statement.
Speaking about the public sector, Grcic said the government was working on a large investment cycle which included projects in water management and water supply, transport infrastructure, environmental protection, construction of waste disposal sites, energy projects and building facilities and infrastructure in sea, river and air ports.
Linic underlined the need to recapitalise and restructure companies so as to improve their liquidity and make them competitive on the market.
Benett said the EBRD was interested in projects in the public sector launched by the Croatian government, adding that the bank was prepared to support the private sector as well.
