Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Tuesday visited Varazdin where he toured the latest dairy production line at the Vindija Vivis factory, in which the Vindija food company invested EUR 3.5 million.
The investment will enable the company to expand its range of goods and strengthen its position on the food market in Croatia and the region, and the company expects that it will be able to break through and succeed on the demanding Western European market.
Vindija is one of our largest food industries which has often proven its quality, along with other food companies in the country, the prime minister said.
He added that it was a different matter trying to break through to the demanding European market which in addition to quality requires good distribution and marketing.
Asked by reporters of the diminishing number of milk producers in Croatia and whether the government had a plan for them, Milanovic said that the best and those that will know how to adapt will survive.
Agriculture Minister Tihomir Jakovina agreed with Milanovic and said that only the best and those who will know how to adapt to market conditions will survive.
Vindija, Jakovina said, can attribute its success to new technology, employing young professionals and a clear strategy of positioning itself in the region.
He added that the state was introducing a series of reforms in an effort to stop the negative trend and diminishing number of milk producers.
He noted land reform and bringing order to the market system and the subsidy system, and underlined the need for producers to merge and utilise European Union funds.
