Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said in Melbourne on Thursday that everyone willing to invest in the Croatian oil and gas company INA and be a partner was welcome.
"So, the Americans or someone else. I won't say it doesn't matter, but the rules are known," he told the press when asked about the Americans' alleged interest in INA in order to eliminate the Russians from the game.
According to the government's website, Milanovic said INA was an international company with half of the stock owned by a company on the international stock market.
He said Croatia would always care about who was in INA because the state held a nearly 50 per cent stake in the company, and that anyone willing to invest and be a partner was welcome. But, he added, Croatian and European laws applied.
"We are not a country in a wasteland, in the middle of a prairie, but a country in Europe and every investor is welcome. We have a good legislative framework. However, the game is played by rules that are clear," Milanovic was quoted as saying.
