The Croatian government on Thursday adopted a bill on electronic communications proposing that the Rail Market Regulatory Agency (ARTZU) and the Croatian Post and Electronic Communications Agency (HAKOM) be merged into a new one - the Croatian Regulatory Agency for Network Operations - which will keep the abbreviation HAKOM.
Along with existing jobs, HAKOM will also be competent to regulate the railway services market.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic said at the government session the merging was part of efforts aimed at rationalisation of state agencies and fiscal consolidation.
It is estimated that today's merger will save approximately HRK 2.3 million in 2014 and HRK 3.5 million in 2015 and 2016 each.
