"I cannot believe that someone can object to a military parade on Victory, Homeland Thanksgiving and Croatian Veterans' Day being held in the afternoon hours in the capital city of Croats. Who can object to that? I think that the President isn't against that," Milanovic told reporters in the southern Croatian town of Trogir where he was inspecting the construction site of a bridge to the island of Ciovo.
Milanovic in turn again asked reporters, "Who can be against that?" (military parade in Zagreb), to which reporters responded, "Someone who is saving."
Milanovic then responded: "Who is saving? Does that mean that soldiers shouldn't be paid."
Asked why he didn't accept the President's invitation to attend a meeting with her, as part of her talks with leaders of parliamentary parties in her office, Milanovic said, "That's in the past."
