The Economic Sentiment Index (ESI) grew to 120.4 points in April which is 3.7 points better than in March.
The most noticeable improvement was recorded in the services sector with services confidence index going up 6.7 points to 12.6 points.
Retail trade confidence however fell by 1.1 points to 4 points.
In April, after three consecutive months of improved readings, the Economic Sentiment Indicator remained broadly unchanged in the EU (+0.3 points to 106.4).
In a separate report the EC notes that the Business Climate Indicator (BCI) for the euro area increased slightly in April by 0.09 points to 0.32 points.
