The government on Wednesday adopted a regulation on minimum wage in 2016, which will amount to HRK 3,120 gross, an increase of HRK 90,45 on 2015.
The nearly 3% rise also increases the share of minimum wage in the average gross salary paid from January to September 2015 to 38.8%.
In determining the proposal for minimum wage in 2016, the government took into account the fact that economic trends improved in the last two quarters of the year, Labour Minister Mirando Mrsic said, adding that the government had consulted the social partners in determining the new minimum wage, but that no agreement was reached.
"Minimum wage is especially important for protecting workers from poverty and for increasing the competitiveness of the economy," he said, adding that the increase would not impact the competitiveness of employers.
