Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic on Wednesday held talks with representatives of a score of war veterans associations and, when asked about the budget's projections for that sector, he promised that the outlays in 2016 would not be reduced compared to 2015.
"Croatian war veterans will receive in 2016 the same as they did in 2015," the PM said at a news conference after the meeting with the veterans was held behind the closed doors.
The meeting revolved around nominees for the new war veterans' affairs minister, and Oreskovic told the news conference that the minister would be appointed in the coming days.
The PM said he had held talks with the nominee proposed by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Milijan Brkic, on Tuesday, adding that he would hold talks with the three or four other candidates soon.
In attendance too at the meeting were the two Deputy PMs, HDZ leader Tomislav Karamarko and Bridge party leader Bozo Petrov.
