Prime Minister Plenković met with the the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Maria Lohela

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Thursday met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Maria Lohela, and assessed that bilateral relations between Finland and Croatia were excellent, but that there was always room for improvement particularly with regard to economic relations.

The statement notes that areas of special interest for Finland are clean energy and waste management.

Plenkovic thanked Finland for its support during Croatia's accession to the European Union and for its cooperation on several twinning projects.

With regard to priorities for the European Union, reference was made to Great Britain's exiting the EU, migration and external security. Concern was expressed for the consequences of Brexit, the government's press release says.

With regard to migration it was said that it is important to resolve the problem at the source and not just strengthen the external borders, the statement says.
