Croatia signed memorandum of understanding on cooperation between ports and port industrial parks

The memorandum was signed on the fringes of the 5th summit of prime ministers of central and eastern Europe and China.

Croatian PM Andrej Plenkovic said the summit ended with the signing of a series of memorandums of understanding between China and the states in attendance. "Croatia signed a memorandum which we feel is a good incentive for the economic relations with China and bigger trade."

He said China was a global stakeholder and that it was important for Croatia to use the summit to strengthen relations with China.

Croatian Economy Minister Martina Dalic said in Riga on Saturday that the Croatian-Chinese memorandum of understanding on cooperation between ports and port industrial parks created the framework for the arrival of Chinese investors in those sectors of the Croatian economy for which major European funds were not planned.

The memorandum was signed on the fringes of the 5th summit of prime ministers of central and eastern Europe and China.

"The memorandum we signed strengthens the framework for further cooperation, notably in the area of ports, the modernisation of ports and equipment in industrial parks with ports," Dalic told reporters.

The memo of understanding is the document the two countries harmonised to regulate the promotion of cooperation between companies in investment, construction, upgrade and streamlining of  the seaports and seaports' industrial parks.
