At the award ceremony, which brought together over 1,500 people, the prime minister said Croatia had realised its objectives in the tourism sector this year.

"Investments in tourism amounted to EUR 800 million and next year they will reach EUR 940 million plus another EUR 350 million in the health tourism, which is the best proof of Croatia's competitiveness. For the first time in history we will record 100 million overnights (next weekend) and I would like to congratulate and thank all those who made this possible," Plenkovic said.

He also thanked his Slovenian counterpart Miro Cerar and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker for reaching an agreement which helped reduce long wait times at the Croatian border which contributed to great tourism results generated this year.
