Gov't adopts score of decisions conducive to development of Osijek and east Croatia

The cabinet led by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Friday passed several decisions that will contribute to the development of the biggest eastern city of Osijek and Osijek-Baranja County, and he said that the decisions were actually a message about the synergy of the work of the government and local authorities in cities and in counties.

"This is a strong message to Slavonia and local inhabitants," Plenkovic said at the start of the meeting in Osijek.

Some of the decisions refer to the upgrade of the equipment of a local hospital, and eight million kuna will be set aside for that purpose.

The ministries of health and environmental protection are tasked with solving the problem of mosquitoes in Kopacki Rit Nature Park.

In 2018, the government will allocate 3.78 million kuna to reconstruct a ring-road and an additional seven million for other infrastructure projects in Osijek.

The government promised financial assistance of two million kuna for the renovation of Tvrdja ("Fortress"), a landmark of the old city.
