PM Plenkovic, county prefects and mayors meet in Sibenik

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, county prefects and mayors met in Sibenik on Friday to discuss their cooperation and activities conducted at various levels of authorities in a bid to reduce inequalities and ensure even development across all regions.

This is the third time that a meeting in this format between the government and local office-holders was held in the term of the Plenkovic cabinet. The first meeting of this kind took place in Zagreb a year ago.

"The most important thing is that we have transposed our partnership into a positive situation for Croatian citizens," the premier said expressing satisfaction with the level of cooperation in the last 12 months.

He spoke of positive economic indicators in Croatia such as the reduction of the country's public debt and budget gap, growing employment and exports, and called for more efforts to be invested into productivity and structural reforms.

We are no longer in the Excessive Deficit Procedure and it is essential now to cope with macroeconomic imbalances, and in 2018, it is important to make great progress, he said.
