PM Plenkovic: Croatia is a friend and ally of BiH, and the economy strengthens our relationships every day

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said in Mostar on Monday that Bosnia and Herzegovina was a state priority for Croatia and that he expected an agreement on amendments to the BiH election law so that Croats could achieve equality.

Asked by the press about Bosniak political parties' proposals aimed at diminishing the role of the ethnically conceived upper house of the Federation entity's parliament, Plenkovic said Croatia expected the implementation of the Constitutional Court's ruling in the matter.

"In the political sense, we advocate good relations between the two countries, the equality of Croats as one of the three constituent peoples. We hope the election law issue will be resolved before elections in BiH this autumn. As Croatia, we would like an agreement to be reached and Constitutional Court decisions to be respected."

Plenkovic attended the opening of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) Mostar office, saying HGK's offices in BiH would be communication points and a service to anyone wishing to intensify economic cooperation.

He said that by opening that office, Croatian Radio and Television offices in Sarajevo and Mostar as well as consulates in Livno in Vitez, and by introducing Croatian Airlines flights between Zagreb and Mostar, Croatia had shown that "BiH is important, that it's a priority for us."

Plenkovic said Croatia-BiH trade was EUR 2 billion and could be increased.

He also attended a working dinner with the host, BiH Presidency Croat member Dragan Covic, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, and Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov.

He said the meeting was very important. "It's good that our friend Boyko Borissov, who is from the same political family as the HDZ and the HDZ BiH, is here. Bulgaria will chair the summit in Sofia planned for mid-May. I believe this is the main topic, how to jointly help all the countries in Europe's southeast continue with European reforms.

On Tuesday, they will attend the opening of the 21st International Economy Fair Mostar 2018.
