Commenting on the High Commercial Court's upholding of a settlement for Agrokor, Plenkovic said at a cabinet meeting that this capped off the legal part of the restructuring of Croatia's largest company.
It showed that everything relating to the law on emergency administration in companies of systemic importance has been successful, he said.
He reiterated that in adopting the law, the government wanted to prevent an economic crisis, a financial blow to the state and many family farms from remaining without any earnings, to retain jobs, to give everyone time for consolidation and to prevent a collapse without spending budgetary funds.
Plenkovic said the emergency administration in Agrokor still had a lot of work ahead. "I believe that... probably at the beginning of next year, we will have new structures and that the company will be active on the market, as it is now."
As for the injection of fresh capital in the Petrokemija fertiliser manufacturer, he said the government expected all payments to be made by 4.30 p.m. today. On Monday, the company issued a call for the subscription of 40-45 million new shares in a bid to raise up to HRK 450 million of fresh capital.
After that, the government expects the 50-year-old company, which is important for Croatia's agriculture, to have a new ownership and corporate structure which will enable it to operate in new circumstances, hopefully with better business and financial results, Plenkovic said.
