Bozinovic and Spasovski met in Zagreb in March 2018, when they said the cooperation between the two countries was good and without outstanding issues. Cooperation is especially intensive in the exchange of information in criminal investigations and the fight against terrorism, organised crime and migration.
Bozinovic said then that it was very important to Croatia that Macedonia make progress in its strategic priorities and join NATO and the European Union as soon as possible.
Spasovski said the cooperation with Croatia was "excellent and giving results" and that "the migrant crisis is one of the basic areas for intensifying cooperation." He thanked the Croatian Interior Ministry in securing the Greek border, underscoring the contribution of Croatian police.
Under a December 2015 police cooperation agreement, Croatian border police are helping in the Gevgelija, Star Dojran and Bitola areas to fight illegal migration, human trafficking and migrant smuggling. Since that year, over 560 Croatian police have intercepted almost 6,000 illegal migrants in North Macedonia.
The Brdo Process is aimed at strengthening relations between the countries in the region in light of Euro-Atlantic integration.
