PM says government implementing projects for even regional development

During his visit to Zadar County on Thursday, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said that his cabinet was committed to strengthening an even regional development and reducing inequalities among regions by implementing development programmes, as is evident in the government policies aimed at functional and fiscal decentralisation.

Plenkovic said that it was important for his government to ensure equal development of all regions.

Regardless of who is in power at local level, we help an even regional development, reduce gaps and support development projects, said the premier after visiting the seaport of Gazenica.

Earlier in the day, Plenkovic and several of his ministers visited Benkovac and Zadar Airport.

A HRK 11.9 million agreement on the project of the reconstruction and revamping of the old town in Bekovac in Zadar's hinterland was signed in the morning.

Later on, the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butkovic, and Defence Minister Damir Krsticevic signed with Zadar Airport a  HRK 500 million (EUR 67.5 million) tripartite agreement on the construction and renovation of the airport's operational surfaces.

Prefect: After being destroyed and occupied in war, Zadar County is a modern region today

Zadar County Prefect Bozidar Longin thanked the government for the support and recalled that during the 1991-1995 Homeland War a large part of the county had been occupied and destroyed, while today it was a modern region focused on its economic development and attractive to investors.

Zadar Mayor Branko Dukic said that the city now had a record high employment rate.
