New model of cooperation with local government
Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic spoke about a new model of cooperation between the central government and local government units.
"Regular dialogue, six-monthly meetings around Croatia have enabled counties and cities to be kept up to date with the most essential legislative bills that relate to everyday living. Such dialogue has helped identify common priorities and important topics for certain parts of Croatia and the communication with government officials has enabled a lot of projects to be implemented," said Plenkovic.
He added that the principle of decentralisation, under which decision are made closest to the citizens, empowers the counties in their territorial organisation.
"That will best be seen at the end of this year with the integration of state administration with counties with regard to their competencies and everything that needs to be integrated to improve public administration," said Plenkovic.
