Foundation-stone-laying ceremony held for future Monument to Homeland in Zagreb

A foundation stone for the future Monument to the Homeland was laid outside the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on Monday and Mayor Milan Bandic expressed hope that the monument would be an inspiration for the future generations.

The monument, which will consist of three segments: a Wall of Pain, an Altar and a Pavilion-Portal, has been designed by architect Nenad Fabijanic.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said that the site would be used to pay tribute to all those who participated in the establishment of Croatia. The monument would also keep memories of difficult periods in the creation of the homeland, the premier added.
