They discussed the initiative by the HDLSKL association that Croatian citizens who had been held in Serb-operated concentration camps during the 1991-1995 Homeland War should file individual lawsuits against Serbia before Serbian and Croatian courts and seek damages for the time spent in confinement, according to a government press release.
It was agreed that consultations would continue with relevant government departments, notably the ministries of justice and veterans' affairs, on providing legal and professional aid to former camp prisoners, and that a special commission would be established to that effect.
Plenkovic said that the government was aware of the importance of problems faced by war veterans and their families and that it would continue to support the work of the HDLSKL, which has been trying for years to find solutions to former prisoners' problems.
The meeting was also attended by Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic, Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman, Justice Minister Drazen Bosnjakovic, Veterans' Affairs Minister Tomo Medved and HDLSKL President Danijel Rehak.
