More protective equipment arrives from China

A ship carrying 214 tonnes of protective equipment to be used in further efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic arrived in the northern Adriatic port city of Rijeka from China on Friday morning. The equipment is worth about $10.8 million.

It is the first of several ships that will bring goods which Croatia bought from the MEHECO and Sinopharm companies in early April, the government said in a statement.

The equipment was fully paid with money from the EU Regional Development Fund, from which Croatia has been allocated about €50 million for this purpose.

The shipment also includes a smaller amount of protective masks, goggles and coveralls donated by the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, the Alibaba Foundation and the Jack Ma Foundation.
