The investment in this project exceeded HRK 500 million, the state-run electricity provider said in a press release after the inauguration was held at Korlat, near the southern town of Benkovac.
First hybrid renewable energy park
HEP starts building also the Korlat solar power plant, worth over HRK 500 million, at the same location and the two power plants will together make the first hybrid renewable energy park in Croatia.
In attendance at today's ceremony was Prime Minister Andrej Plenković who underscored that Korlat was the first wind park in Croatia to generate electricity without using renewable power generation subsidies.
The park is expected to generate 170 GWH annually, which accounts for one percent of the annual energy consumption in Croatia, and is sufficient for supplying energy to more than 50,000 households, the prime minister was quoted as saying.
The new park consists of 18 wind turbines, and each of them is a 3.6 MW turbine, delivered and installed by the German Nordex company.
The local infrastructure for this project was built by two Croatian companies: Ing-Grad and Fractal.
The planned solar power plant on this location will have the installed power of about MW 95.
The HEP is currently implementing about 50 various projects concerning renewable resources throughout Croatia, the HEP management board chairman Frane Barbarić said.
