Murganic held a news conference to present the conclusions of the fourth meeting of the Council for the Demographic Revitalisation of Croatia.
She spoke about amendments to legislation on child allowance which are to take effect on 1 July. One of the changes is to raise the means test for those entitled to child allowances from the current HRK 1,663 to HRK 2,328.
In addition, capacities of nurseries and pre-school facilities will be increased and 67.5 million kuna will be set aside for that purpose.
Vacancies will be soon advertised for nursery staff so as to enable two-shift work in such facilities, and 300 million kuna from EU funds will be available for the purpose of balancing private and professional life.
Murganic is confident that those measures, coupled with economic growth and development, can result in higher birth rates.
