Bilateral relations between Croatia and Greece excellent and friendly
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is on a two-day visit to Greece, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The occasion for the visit is an informal dinner where the leaders of the region will exchange opinions on the further course of the European integration process of the countries of Southeast Europe, as well as on the stability and security of Europe in the context of Russian aggression to Ukraine.
Upon his arrival in Athens, Prime Minister Plenković met with his Greek counterpart Mitsotakis, with whom he discussed a number of current topics, among others the aid that Croatia will once again send to Greece in the fight against fires, but also the situation with detained Croatian citizens after football fan riots in Athens.In a statement to the media after the meeting, Prime Minister Plenković assessed bilateral relations as excellent and friendly and added that both he and his Greek colleague Mitsotakis worked devotedly to improve them during their mandate.
He reported that the Greek Prime Minister asked him to send a Canadian from Croatia to Greece to help put out fires in the north of that country and announced that the Croatian Government would make such a decision today.
The prime minister said they also discussed Croatian citizens who are in custody in Greek prisons after the football fan riots in Athens.
