Croatia's priority during EPSCO presidency will be activation of unemployed
Croatian Pension and Labour System Minister Marko Pavic said that one of the priorities of Croatia's European Union presidency in the first half of 2020 would be "the activation of the unemployed, the enhancement of skills and wellbeing in the workplace".
In Helsinki on Friday, Minister Pavic met his counterparts from Finland and Romania, as part of the EPSCO (Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council) configuration.
Romania, Finland and Croatia are the trio that will take over the EU presidency every six months in the next year and a half.
Pavic and his counterparts considered the EU's long-term goals and the trio's priorities.
Pavic was quoted as saying that the priorities of Croatia's EU chairmanship would be the activation of the jobless with a special emphasis on young people and those who have been out of work for a long time.
The priorities also include the enhancement of skills of both employed and unemployed persons and wellbeing in the workplace.
During the Croatian presidency, two high-level meetings are to take place in Croatia. One will address the absorption of funds from the European Social Fund and the other will focus on the training of the employed and the unemployed with emphasis on digital and financial literacy.
