Croatia's unemployment rate in April drops to 15.9%

Croatia's unemployment rate dropped in April to 15.9%, which is 1.3 percentage points less than in March and 2.2 percentage points less on the year, indicates data released on Tuesday by the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

Unemployment has decreased three months in a row.

The Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) reported that there were 254,591 job-seekers, which was 21,815 or 7.9% fewer than in March. This is a drop of 14.3% or 42,497 less in comparison to April last year.

The fall in the number of those out of work is primarily due to seasonal employment which will continue in May. The HZZ on Tuesday reported that there are currently 237,578 unemployed persons which is about 17,000 less than at the end of March.
