Croatian PM meets EU agriculture commissioner

Predsjednik Vlade Republike Hrvatske dr. sc. Ivo Sanader primio je danas u Banskim dvorima Mariann Fischer Boel, povjerenicu Europske komisije za poljoprivredu i ruralni razvoj.

ZAGREB, June 12 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader held talks with the European Union Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mariann Fischer Boel, in Zagreb on Friday.

During the meeting, Sanader confirmed his government's determination to adopt European standards in agriculture and stressed that, regardless of the present blockade of Croatia's EU accession negotiation by Slovenia, it would continue a policy that would ensure the speedy and successful completion of the accession negotiations.

Fischer Boel expressed satisfaction with the work so far, adding that she would continue intensive contacts with her Croatian colleagues and would give Croatia all possible support during negotiations in the Agriculture and Rural Development Chapter.

I hope a solution to the blockade of negotiations will be found soon and that Croatia will become the 28th member of the European union as soon as possible, Fischer Boel said.
