Croatian PM meets representatives of German electricity producer RWE
ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor met in Zagreb on Wednesday with Juergen Grossman, Chief Executive Officer of Germany's leading electricity producer, RWE, a government press release said.
The government has recently introduced into Parliament a proposed national energy development strategy which aims to ensure long-term economic development and a sustainable energy system in the country, Kosor said.
The strategy envisages EUR 10-15 billion worth of investments in the Croatian energy infrastructure by the year 2020.
The government has invited foreign investors to join in this enterprise through joint investments with domestic companies, such as HEP, the press release said.
RWE officials reaffirmed their interest in participating in major energy projects, saying they would continue successful cooperation with HEP and other energy companies in Croatia.
RWE is one of the three largest European electricity producers. It is present in many Western European countries as well as in Central and Eastern Europe, including Croatia.
RWE and HEP are partners in the construction and management of the 210 MW thermal power plant Plomin 2, which was put in operation in 1999 and is one of the most successful energy projects in Croatia.
The meeting also focused on ways of expanding the successful cooperation to include other energy projects in Croatia, as well as natural gas and water supply projects, in which RWE is already involved, the press release said.
