Croatian Prime Minister meets Chilean president

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic who is in Santiago where he is scheduled to take part in the summit of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), on Friday held talks with Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.

Milanovic and Pinera signed a memorandum of understanding between the two countries' government but did not address the press after the meeting.

Croatia's delegation, led by Milanovic, also visited the Croat community club Estadio Croata in Santiago where Milanovic told those present that the summit was an important reason for his visit to Chile but that the numerous Croat community was equally important.

He underlined Croatia was scheduled to join the European Union as the 28th member in the near future, "not as a small statistical error but as a factor which knows what it wants."

Speaking about the country's future, Milanovic said he wanted Croatia in several years to be one of the best countries for business in Europe. I want Croatia to be a country in which those who come with their money would know that their money is safe and that chances for that money to grow are realistic, Milanovic stressed.

Milanovic was accompanied by Croatian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic.
