Croatian, Slovenian PMs agree on no unilateral steps after arbitration ruling

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic spoke by phone with his Slovenian counterpart Miro Cerar on Thursday about today's ruling by an arbitral tribunal on the two countries' border dispute, agreeing that no unilateral steps would be taken and that they would meet in Ljubljana on July 12.

Plenkovic reiterated that Croatia stuck by its decision that the ruling was in no way binding and that it would not apply it, the government said in a press release, while Cerar reiterated Slovenia's position that the ruling must be honoured.

They agreed that no unilateral steps will be taken and that they will resume talks in Ljubljana on July 12 ahead of a Berlin Process meeting in Trieste, Italy.

The Berlin Process was launched in 2014 to promote regional cooperation, dealing with outstanding issues and further stabilising Europe's southeast.
