Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met on the fringes of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday with his counterparts from Montenegro, Georgia and Liechtenstein as well as with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development secretary-general.

Plenković told the press the forum was an opportunity for all to analyse the world "in significantly changed circumstances."

Plenković said on Twitter that he and his counterparts Dritan Abazović of Montenegro, Daniel Rischl of Liechtenstein and Irakli Garibashvili of Georgia discussed bilateral relations, economic and energy cooperation, and security.

Speaking to the press, Plenković said he and Garibashvili also discussed the reactions to Georgia's application to join the EU.

Plenković said on Twitter that he and OECD secretary-general Mathias Cormann discussed the continuation of Croatia's OECD membership negotiations and measures to buffer energy price hikes.

Plenković told the press this year's World Economic Forum was taking place during "Russia's brutal aggression on Ukraine" which caused the hikes of energy, raw material, construction material, and food prices. The energy crisis, he said, has spilled over into inflationary pressures.

"We will try and see how to respond to the challenges of a significantly changed world in the context of climate change and the digitalisation agenda, which is the most essential, so that economies can transform and catch up with the advanced development of technology and economic trends," he said.

"That's why it's important for Croatia that we see what the global trends are, that we make our contribution security-wise, economically and financially," he said, adding that "it's very good that we have the chance to meet three months since the Russian aggression on Ukraine."
