The cabinet of Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Thursday decided to prolong the implementation of the programme of financial support for the energy rehabilitation of public buildings until the end of 2018 and 160 million kuna will be secured from the budget for this purpose.

Construction Minister Lovro Kuscevic said that this referred to 11 projects, including several hospitals, a prison, the Poljud stadium in Split, or a total of 60 buildings, the energy rehabilitation of which was the subject of ongoing negotiations.

The government sent to parliament a new law on animals envisaging a ban on the killing of abandoned animals.

The new legislation envisages "no-kill" animal shelters and this will require 549,000 kuna, that is 11.53 million for 21 shelters per year, and the funds are to be ensured by units of local self-government in all counties.

Earlier this year, Croatia banned fur farming.
