Plenković: Citizens have choice between anarchy and those protecting order
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Tuesday that the Croatian citizens have the choice between irresponsible people and those protecting the order, public health and the functioning of the entire system.
"Our citizens have the choice between anarchy and irresponsible people and those protecting the order, public health and the functioning of the economy and the financial system as well as all social activities," Plenković told reporters after a meeting of the leadership of his Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party.
He said his government and the national COVID-19 response team "carefully calibrated the measures", protecting public health and respecting people's rights while trying to ensure the functioning of the economy. He said that Saturday's protest rally in Zagreb was not against vaccination, but against testing.
Milanović refused to host dinner or lunch with Macron
Asked why President Zoran Milanović was not invited to lunch with French President Emmanuel Macron, who is coming to Croatia on Wednesday for a two-day official visit, Plenković said that Milanović had been asked to host a lunch or dinner, but had refused.
"A proposal was made for Milanović to host a dinner or lunch, but he refused. Since he refused, I have taken upon myself to host both a dinner and a lunch," the prime minister said, advising journalists to seek an explanation from the President's Office.
