Plenković: Membership in the OECD is the final step for rounding off Croatia's international position
Membership in the OECD, an international organization that brings together 38 of the world's most developed countries, is Croatia's last strategic foreign policy goal, Prime Minister Plenković emphasized today in Paris. "After membership in the Eurozone, the Schengen Area and the European Stabilization Mechanism, this is the final step for rounding off Croatia's international position," he said and announced that the process should be completed by the end of 2025, with the ambition to achieve formal membership in 2026.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković visited the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris today, met with its Secretary General Mathias Cormann, and participated in the meeting of the OECD Council. Before the meetings, Prime Minister Plenković and OECD Secretary General Cormann signed a letter accepting the membership of the Republic of Croatia in the OECD Working Group against bribery in international business transactions.
With this document, Croatia undertakes to accede to the Convention for Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business as soon as possible, which is another important step on the way to membership in the OECD.
Prime Minister Plenković also handed Cormman a letter about the contribution to the OECD Program for Ukraine, in the amount of 250,000 euros.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković then presented Croatia's ambitions related to membership in the organization to the members of the OECD Council at the meeting of the OECD Council, which was held on the occasion of his visit.
