Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic visited the northeastern town of Virovitica on Friday and on that occasion reiterated his cabinet's commitment to the implementation of the Slavonia Project in a bid to improve the living conditions and ensure the demographic revival in eastern Croatia through agricultural development, enhanced road connectivity and synergy of national and EU funds.

Plenkovic travelled to Virovitica on the occasion of Virovitica-Podravina County Day.

"The recently adopted transport development strategy for the 2017-2030 period envisages the construction of a state road from the border with Hungary via Virovitica and Okucani to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina," the premier said.

He also recalled that the three cabinet ministers coming from Slavonia -- Finance Minister Zdravko maric, Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolusic and Regional Development and EU Funds Minister Gabrijela Zalac -- were tasked with being the driving forces in the implementation of the Slavonia Project programmes.
