PM Plenkovic: We will provide accommodation to people and help them rebuild their homes
About a dozen houses have been damaged, of which several severely, by a landslide in Hrvatska Kostajnica, 70 kilometres southeast of Zagreb, however, no casualties were reported.
At the time of the incident, the Civil Protection Crisis Management Centre was convening in Hrvatska Kostajnica and the session was attended by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.
The people living in those houses heard a loud noise and ran outside, so no one was injured.
Upon receiving the news about the landslide, the participants in the Crisis Management Centre meeting, including PM Plenkovic, Defence Minister Damir Krsticevic, Environment Protection Minister Tomislav Coric, the head of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate, Dragan Lozancic, and Croatian water management company director Zoran Djurokovic, headed to the scene.
"A part of the hill slope collapsed, but fortunately there were no casualties. The cause of the landslide is heavy snowmelt... In cooperation with Sisak-Moslavina County the government will do its best to help the people who lost their homes. We will provide them with accommodation and help them rebuild their homes," Plenkovic said.
