ZAGREB, June 20 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Friday issued a message with congratulations on the occasion of Anti-Fascist Day which Croatia celebrates on 22 June.
"Nearly seven decades ago, on 22 June 1941, the first anti-fascist unit in the then occupied Europe was set up in Croatia," Sanader said in his message.Croatia and the entire Europe are founded on the legacy of the anti-fascist struggle, sharing the same freedom-loving and democratic values, he said.
The present-day generations have a privilege to live in an independent, free, democratic Croatia for which people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds gave their lives, Sanader said in the message, paying tribute to those who died for Croatia.
He called on Croatians to look forward to the future based on values of a free and modern Europe and world.
