PM Sanader issues Statehood Day message

"With the historic Constitutional Decision on the Sovereignty and Independence of the Republic of Croatia and the Declaration on the Proclamation of the Sovereign and Independent Republic of Croatia we made our centuries-long dream a reality and embarked on a path towards a better future. We had to face many challenges on that path. In a war that was imposed on us, we succeeded in defending Croatia's independence, sovereignty and integrity. We owe our lasting gratitude to all who defended the Homeland, particularly those who gave their lives for it."

"Since the fateful 25 June 1991, we have built a society respecting the highest values - equality, dialogue, tolerance and the rule of law. We have built a society that has already secured itself a place on the map of united Europe," PM Sanader said, extending his best wishes to all citizens on the occasion of Statehood Day.
