Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic on Wednesday received members of the Croatian Bishops Conference for talks on his upcoming meeting with Pope Francis in Rome and the relationship between the state and the Catholic Church, which was assessed as good.

Both sides underlined the importance of the process of canonisation of the Blessed Cardinal alojzije Stepinac, with the religious dignitaries voicing confidence that the mixed commission recently formed to address the matter would soon complete its work.

The two sides said the state's cooperation with the Catholic Church on the social, cultural and educational fronts was good. They underlined the importance of jointly standing up for Bosnia and Herzegovina Croats, which would be one of the topics of Oreskovic's talks with the Pope on Thursday.
