Prime Minister holds several bilateral meetings in New York

NEW YORK, Sept 25 (Hina) - During his stay in New York, Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Wednesday continued with bilateral meetings with other heads of state or government and foreign officials who arrived in the United States for the 63rd annual meeting of the United Nations' General Assembly.

On Wednesday afternoon, Sanader held talks with the presidents of Lithuanian and Turkey, Valdas Adamkus and Abdullah Gul respectively, on bilateral relations and Croatia's aspirations to join the European Union and NATO, according to the spokesman for the Croatian Government, Zlatko Mehun.

Adamkus said that his country's parliament would ratify protocols on Croatia's admission to NATO on 29 September.

He also voiced full support for Croatia's EU membership negotiations.

Sanader announced his visit to that Baltic country in the beginning of 2009.

Sanader and Turkish President Gul agreed that their countries were developing good and friendly relations.

Gul said that the Turkish parliament would ratify the relevant protocols for Croatia's entry into NATO at the start of its autumn session.

The two officials also discussed the situation in southeastern Europe, notably in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
