Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, who arrived in Berlin on Monday afternoon, is due to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday.

"Tomorrow we will propose to the German side a ten-point action plan which our two foreign ministries have been preparing for some time so that we can identify topics and groups of topics as a framework for improving cooperation with Germany, which is already one of the biggest investors in Croatia. It will be a sort of road map of our relations with Germany," Plenkovic said, upon his arrival on Monday afternoon, while addressing the Croatian expat community in the German capital city

He said they would also discuss the situation in Southeast Europe, including migration, which he said was a very important topic for Germany.

Recently, Merkel held meetings with two premiers from the region, Denis Zvizdic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Dusko Markovic of Montenegro on the migrations and refugee crisis.

The Merkel-Plenkovic talks will also address Croatia's bid to join the Schengen Area as a form of tighter integration within the European Union.

Plenkovic has said the meeting with Merkel was agreed as part of the Berlin Process in Berlin in early July and that it will serve as a preparation for an important election year in Europe.

He underlined the importance of Germany and its government, saying they were a "factor of stability" in Europe.

He thanked representatives of Croatian expats for their contribution to German-Croatian relations.
