Prime Minister receives CDU/CSU parliamentary group chairman

ZAGREB, May 28 (Hina) - Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Friday received the chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, Volker Kauder, who conveyed Chancellor Angela Merkel's best regards and support to the Croatian official.

PM Kosor thanked Germany for its support to Croatia all the time from its independence to date.

Kauder said that Germany would continue supporting Croatia on its path towards the integrated Europe and that Croatia set an example to other European Union aspirants in the region.

The German parliamentarian went on to say that Croatia's prospective entry into the EU would be a strong signal to other southeastern European countries and added that Croatia strongly contributed to the stabilisation of this part of Europe, serving as a permanent guarantee of peace and prosperity in the region.

Kosor said that upon its admission to the EU, Croatia would even stronger support its neighbours on their Euro-Atlantic road.

She also spoke about priorities of her cabinet this year, including the strengthening of the economy.

Kauder added that it was necessary to intensify and enhance the economic cooperation between his country and Croatia. In this context, the two officials discussed a Croatian-German business forum scheduled for mid-June in Zagreb.
