Prime Minister welcomes outcome of Irish referendum
ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Saturday welcomed the decision of a majority of Irish voters to approve the European Union's reform Treaty of Lisbon.
"The successful outcome of the referendum in Ireland is a great step forward in the construction and strengthening of the European Union which Croatia will soon join. This is for us additional encouragement to our reform efforts and to efforts to complete the fulfilment of commitments stemming from the European Union membership, so that we can wrap up the accession negotiations as soon as possible."
"We are entering the final phase of the negotiations, being confident that the removal of the remaining dilemmas surrounding the Treaty of Lisbon will facilitate Croatia's accession negotiations."
The Treaty of Lisbon, also known as the Reform Treaty, which is likely to go in force soon, will contribute to a more favourable climate both in the European Union and outside the bloc for the enlargement policy.
