Relations with Hesse important component of Croatia-Germany cooperation

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Monday held talks with the Minister President of the German state of Hesse, Volker Bouffier, who is on a visit to Croatia together with six ministers from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and CDU deputies in the parliament of this central federal state in which the party is scheduled to hold a closed-door meeting on May 7-11.

Plenkovic expressed his satisfaction with the friendly relations between Croatia and Germany. He underscored the excellent cooperation on the political and economic fronts and trade between Croatia and Hesse which is an indicator of permanent positive trends.

Plenkovic also said he was glad to see a large number of German tourists visiting Croatia, with 120,000 coming from Hesse. He also mentioned 50,000 Croats living and working in Hesse.

Bouffier conveyed the regards of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Plenkovic and underlined the importance of political stability at Europe's southeast, notably in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The talks also focused on key challenges ahead of the European Union. The two officials advocated the continuation of good political relations stepping up bilateral cooperation on all fronts.
