Prime Minister Andrej Plenković emphasized that Croatia will continue to provide strong political, financial and humanitarian support to Ukraine, announcing that our country will provide another five million euros for demining Ukraine. He said that Croatia, which has extensive experience in the demining process, would help Ukraine with Croatian machinery and expertise.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković participated today in the opening of the International Donor Conference for Humanitarian Demining of Ukraine at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb.

He emphasized that the wide response to this conference is a reflection and another manifestation of our support, our unity and clear support for Ukraine in the circumstances of brutal Russian aggression.

"The desire of all of us is to help the demining, but also the economic and physical reconstruction of Ukraine, and above all, to help it in its efforts to realize its territorial integrity and freedom," said Plenković.

He pointed out that the heroism of Ukrainian soldiers, Ukrainian people and Ukrainian leadership shows great commitment to freedom and the values on which today's Europe was built.

Therefore, today's discussion is an important opportunity to provide financial and operational support, but above all to announce a structured plan and strategy for solving the issue of mines on Ukrainian territory.

He emphasized that Croatia has great experience in the demining process. "Like Ukraine, we were victims of an aggression and the consequences of mined areas were felt for decades," Plenković said.

He also said that Croatia knows very well from its experience what it means to be attacked, bombed, driven from ones homes, deported, occupied, and suffer a large number of civilian and military victims. Croatia, he added, knows what it means to defend freedom, its territory, its values and its sovereign right to manage its own destiny.

"Therefore, we are well aware that persistence in the unity of support for Ukraine is particularly important, not only at the political, economic, financial and humanitarian level, but also in the military support for that country," said Plenković.

He also reminded that Croatia has already given five million euros for the demining process in Ukraine and announced that the Government will make another decision on an additional five million euros at tomorrow's session, which is Croatia's contribution as the host country of this International Donor Conference.

He also noted that yesterday the Deputy Prime Minister Davor Božinović and the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Julija Sviridenko signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of mine action, saying that its intent is to establish a framework for structured cooperation between the two countries.
